Who are we?
Novosibirsk State University is located at the heart of Akademgorodok, a world-famous research center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It was founded in the 1960s in the Siberian taiga as the birth place for new ideas and technologies. Now it's a world-class research and educational cluster with 35 research institutes, innovative Technopark and the University at the heart of this well-balanced system.

About the course
This school is for students of archeology, history and culture anthropology specialization, which study history of Huns and Turkic Khaganate in Siberia in I millennium AD. Students will perform archaeological excavations on a monument of the Tashtyk period called «burial ground Tes' Bay 3» (Tesinski zaliv 3). This archaeological site is researched by the Department of Archeology and Ethnography of Novosibirsk state university. The site is located on the river bank of Yenisei River and has more than 80 archaeological objects. Leading experts of archeologists from Novosibirsk state university and Khakassia state university will give lectures for students. Students can visit the most famous archaeological monument of this area, museums and national park of Khakassia and Krasnoyarsk region. Students will live in archaeological camp in tents. Food will be cooked in the field kitchen.

Archaeological excavations at the Tesinskiy zaliv 3 burial ground.
August 19
Scientific lectures on the famous Siberian archaeological sites the "Great Salbyk kurgan" and "Barsuchiy Log". Excursion to the Oglachty National Park (historical reconstruction of an "Ancestral Village").
August 20-25
Archaeological excavations at the Tesinskiy zaliv 3 burial ground. Lectures on the "Boyar pisanitsa" and "Kopeny Chaatas" archaeological monuments.
August 26
Excursion to the National Museum of Khakassia (Abakan) and the Khakassia National Ethnographic Museum and Park "Kazanovka". Scientific lectures by Professors at the Khakass State University Department of Archeology.
August 27-30
Archaeological excavations at the Tesinskiy zaliv 3 burial ground. Scientific lectures by Professors from the Novosibirsk State University Department of Archeology and Ethnography. Experiments with models of small arms used by the Tashtyk Tribe and reconstruction of the Yenisei Kyrgyz funeral rites.
August 31
Seminar on the results of the archaeological excavations and field practice.
September 01-02
Participant departure from the Summer School, Novosibirsk.
