Mathematical and Computational Linguistics

Master's Degree Program in Russian
This program provides an opportunity to gain and develop experience in developing and applying instruments for natural language processing. The educational process and internships are organized by interdisciplinary teams that include mathematicians, linguists, programmers, and cognitive scientists. The goal of the program is to prepare specialists in the theory and practice of natural language processing that can work with communicated information in written and oral texts. A fundamental knowledge of the related mathematical and linguistic spheres is considered vital for specialists. The Program goal to create specialists in this field is timely in the context of our modern world with its rapidly growing amount of textual information.
Career opportunities
Program graduates are developing intellectual technologies at IT-companies and academic institutes, working in business ("digital economics') where they are creating systems for semantic search, analysis of textual documents, processing natural language queries, and virtual consulting. The skills acquired by graduates are in demand by mass media and other organizations that need systems for automatic semantic analysis and processing very large amounts of textual data. Graduates are also developing dialogue education systems, and diagnostic and developmental services for people (in particular, children) with language dysfunctions. Graduates can participate in developing language services for "digital medicine", cryptography and information security systems.
